 corrosion of our regimented state

It may be a great idea to drop our political lenses for a bit as we peep through the threats to humanity in this trying period. Nigerian resurgence of authoritarian and anti-democracy forces, coupled with austerities of this these last two months have posed significant corrosion on the licentious democratic regime, thereby highlighting a need to reconsider colossal assumption about democracy and a just state.
I wish to state categorically that in the record of our democratic experience, Nigerians have never been this regimentally helpless. This military-like period has come with violations of different operational creeds, endangering individualities. Some people are aware of this water-tight fact and the masterminds like us are not in the dark too.
Upon facing different security challenges, even in this hard time, we still cannot find escape route from where used to be our “places of refuge”. A friend’s account suffered '‘pepper red'’ from the hands of scammers who channeled through the church of God in the name of palliatives. Soldiers who are meant to be rescuers and saving grace of Nigerians on many precarious public threats have suddenly turned to be '‘Ojoju'’. Plotter(s) of this lockdown have failed to apprehend the deadly plots of violence disrupting the peace of our nation before and even in this ''stay at home'' period. There have been confirmed cases of bribery from our law enforcement agents to partially ease the lockdown for some sets of persons. Even the blind can discern the lack of patriotism and loyalty from some of our military personnel. Common goods in the market have become gold. Services rendered for free have now taken new dimensions. Bullets now travels on our deliquent roads.
On the note of finality, Antonio Guterres opines that we are faced with a colossal test which demands decisive, coordinated and innovative action from all and for all, as such, it is justifiable to question the professionalism and the neutrality of our leaders. We may not be silent forever.

  1. Good analysis! You've spoken well brother.
Covid-19 has now become a thing of politics in Nigeria whereby some set of people with acquisition of power (call them politicians and traders) want to amass wealth and become a millionaire overnight.
